Q: Tell us your name, were you live and what you do?
A: My name is Frank, I'm 37 and I live in Quebec Canada, hopefully only till years end :) I work as a digital compositor for a movie F/X postproduction house and I am a toy and DVD junkie.
Q: Why the name Niub Niub?Does it have a special meaning?
A: Yes, but I got it all wrong. Lol, how it started.
Q: How did it start?
A: : I always laughed so much when Wicket growled at Leia in Return of the Jedi ,when he pokes his spear and says what sounded like NiubNiub, but it turns out according to star wars.com YUB YUB ,not NIUB NIUB.and thus it was too late to change the spelling but the sound is the same when you listen to the movie :-)
Q: What's your earliest Star Wars memory?
A: Earliest memory...easy....summer 1977, my best friend John Gavio came running up the street with the latest STARLOG magazine. On the cover , an illustration of Star Wars I remember telling him..That stinks - LOL. little did I know how WRONG I was - lol, that summer we saw the film at least 20 times.
Q: Are you a memeber of the 501st? Your Stormtrooper costume is pretty awesome!
A: No I'm not, I did purchase the costume from one of their suppliers though. Even
though I've never worn it outside the house, it's one of the coolest things I have in my collection. I
just LOVE that design.
Q: What did you think or feel when you first had your characters costume on?
A: I thought...1) Dang, My Calves are too big and 2) Man, it's HOT in here lol
Q: : How and when did you begin to collect Star Wars and what was the first item you purchased??
A: My mom got me the early bird kit in 1978 I think it was. I remember the mailman bringing the box and all my friends coming to see Luke and Chewie and R2. Of course I was only 12 so My mom did the actual purchasing. The first year my parents got me everything, all the ships, the figures,t-shirts, games, posters. Then there was just TOO much stuff to keep track of and we just decided to stick to the action figures I still have all the figures my mom got me, though she gave away the ships and death star playsets to cousins. In 1995 when Star Wars toys and games started coming out again, I now had a career job that let me afford to buy without asking mom - LOL!
Q: Are you a MOC/MIB collector?
A: : N/p....I do buy 1 figure to keep carded and then OPEN all the rest. Can't make dioramas with carded figures now can we LOL.The ships and playsets I buy just 1 of and open that as well,I do however keep ALL boxes. Love the artwork. And I can use it for moving day.
Q: Which line of figures is your favorite?
A: You had to ask such a hard question - LOL - would be easier what I hate - hee hee....fave has to be what Hasbro is doing now. They seem to know people are into Dioramas, and giving us the coolest Diorama accessories that would be so hard to make ourselves...for example the upcoming Hoth Base General. That Console is just too awesome. I cant wait to see a Moisture Vaporator scaled to the Luke Figure
Q: Let's say I would hand you one figure right now, what would you want?
A: Hard choice...Actually there is ONE that I was DYING for a LONG time and Hasbro announced it just now...the Big Black Droid from new hope. Do you know his name? The jawas have him for sale at the droids purchase I'd also like some Jabba Aliens like the Dancing Gargan !!!! We need her for our diorama :-)
Q: Also what unmade figure do you want to see?
A: Here is the MADE one that I dont have yet ....The Trade Federation Cinema Scene 3 pack, those are just beautiful!
Q: Were their any unexpected problems in making Palpatines Arrival?
A: Yes...doing repetitive wall sections was LONG and BORING,I couldn't wait to do the Floors LOL Actually since I knew the diorama was going into Legends Action Figures Main Window Display I measured the space before making the diorama. What I forgot to take into account was the thickness of the glass and the diorama was 1/8 inch too wide. We had to cheat and do some emergency trimming during the final set up.
Q: Can you tell me your secret in getting action figures to stand and not fall over? Do you Glue them?
A: In the Emperors Arrival, the figures actually do have a little drop of Hot Glue on their feet. The amazing thing about the Hot Glue Gun is that the glue hardens in 5 seconds and molds to the figures boot. preventing them to fall. BUT WAIT...the glue peels off completely with no residue or dammage to the figure when you want to put it back in storage, most older figures do stand on their own. It's only the newer ones that Hasbro makes, with the "gummy bear" plastic that keep falling over. I would like to see a return to less soft figures.
Q: What type of foilage do you use? Items for trains and other hobbies just dont seem Star Wars-y or "real".
A: The trees and leaves and such I actually got at WalMart. In their arts and crafts dept they have these fake Trees for your home. The trunk is an actual tree limb but all the stems and branches are plastic. It's great and come in variety of plant styles. Fish Aquarium Plants also work well.
Q: Are you planning a full scale Clone Wars diorama? Perhaps something from the Comic Books or directly from the movie?
A: I am not really into the expanded universe world. When the time comes to do the arena or clones diorama, it will be using movie references. That's the fun I have now, trying to
get the closest possible to the real set and camera setups.
Q: In your upcoming Jedi Archives do you plan to use electrical work and make the library "shelves" glow?
A: Oh yeah, if I can figure out how to do it, that would be awesome. Using Mini Christmas
lights really add so much life to a diorama. The season is coming up, wait for those boxing day sales in January and pick up couple of boxes. The glows is what makes that set look cool. There HAS to be lights in it :-)
Q: What is the best/favorite diorama you have made to date?
A: I LOVE my Falcon Interior, it was the first diorama that I purposely created to be LIKE the movie set as opposed to modify the size for it to fit on a shelf. I had a lot of fun doing all those little detailsI wish Hasbro would make a chess bench for us :-) hee hee
Q: What is the favorite guest diorama ever sent into Niub Niubs?
A: I cant answer that, you want me to scare off future visitors LOL. Seriously. I get SO excited getting Visitors dioramas. The same way I assume you guys get seeing my creations I love it when I get a scene that I havent made yet then I can steal - oops - I mean borrow - LOL - their ideas and get really motivated to make mine.

What does amaze me is the amount of creativity and talent there is out there. I have over 50 visitors scenes on my hard drive waiting to be put into web page format. some really
awesome surprises One that I think EVERYONE freaked out on was Mike Beaulieu's Jabba's
PalaceWhen I made my Jabba it was during the "fit on the shelf" period, when I saw his creation, my jaw fell
to the floor. THAT is THE reference for anyone who wants to make a Jabbas Palace. Me
included. I cannot do better then Mike's. Only use his to inspire. he did all the hard groundwork.
Thanks Mike :-) Seems every site now has a diorama section which is fantastic. When I started 8 years
ago, there was nothing. Now people can get motivated in so many ways and it has also made
Hasbro open their eyes to the idea of adding Diorama Accesories like Wedding Padme's
Balcony for example, I am having so much fun making the dioramas and I know the direction they will eventually grow into...more and more accurate and higher quality materials perhaps, but still keeping it simple so that the fans can recreate them at home Interactivity is what I never want to
lose with the fans The only thing I wish someone would
tell me is how to get 10 working days out of a 7 day week. Time is our worst enemy :-(
Q: What diorama is in the works now?
A: As for whats next, "Before the Emperors arrival". I had started work on the Death Star Conference Room, complete with download decals and lights. That will be completed before years end. After that, I will probably go to the Fans Top Ten choices to decide. So if you havent voted, now is a good time :-)
Q: Thank you for doing this Interview,do you have any thing you would like to add?
A: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to chat with you its been a lot of fun and remember...OPEN YOUR TOYS they need a home to live in LOL
