Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's Death
Why this Scene?:
It was so tragic and shocking. Since I hadn't read the books, I had no clue of Boromir's ending. As Aragorn said, Boromir fought bravely. The last moments of his life after being hit by large and extremely thick arrows of Lurtz's was just so heart breaking for me. Till this very day I dread watching the scene and cover my eyes at certain points and say "No,No!" even though I know what happens. Even still after he'd been hit twice he pushed and pushed until he could give no more. He was such a stud! Boromir risked his life for the two Hobbits, most likely knowing that he was going to die. The last words he spoke with Aragorn were so deep and beautiful, like his death. I hadn't cried so much in ages! Boromir is a true Hero!

Most Emotional Scene?: Aragorn's Dream
Why this Scene?:
It shows how much he misses Arwen and how much she longs for him. She puts him alseep and gives him advice and a special kind of comfort. Their Hug and Kiss is so strong and enchanting. It's also very sad because we know that they are no longer engaged, even though we know what happens in the end, it's still sad. Their love is pure and beautiful and this scene really shows how much they love eachother. Along with the Music this whole scene is just amazing and very emotional for me.

Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's death and Sam's 'I made a promise'
Why this Scene?:
They were both so moving. Boromir's death was so tragic- watching him being pelted with Lurtz's arrows really was upsetting and tragic, and the way you see Aragorn shed a tear afterwards just tops it off. I also chose the 'I made a Promise' scene, because it's so touching how Sam would go to such an extent to stay true to his word and faithful to his friend. Beautiful!

Most Emotional Scene?: The Grey Havens
Why this Scene?:
The Grey Havens brings tears to my eyes. Sam thinks that he is saying goodbye to Frodo forever; for Merry and Pippin, it is their final goodbye. The Hobbits had gone through so much together (especially Sam and Frodo). To all of the Hobbits, it was like Frodo was dying; they would never see him again. Sam was so touched by his Quest with Frodo that after Rosie died, he finally had to see Mr. Frodo again.

Most Emotional Scene?: Sam's good-bye to Frodo in Shelob's Lair
Why this Scene?:
A tear-jerking scene is Sam’s goodbye to Frodo in Shelob’s Lair. Sam’s simple grief at never seeing Mr. Frodo again is just touching. It was so sad to hear Sam just wishing to come back to Shelob’s Lair and find Frodo there. “Don’t leave me here alone! It’s you Sam calling. Don’t go where I can’t follow!” is just so sad. “Forgive your Sam. He’ll come back to this spot when the job’s done - if he manages it. And then he’ll not leave you again…And if the Lady could hear me and give me one wish, I would wish to come back and find you again.”

Most Emotional Scene?: Sam tells Faramir why Boromir died.
Why this Scene?:
This isn't necessarily emotional in the sense of beautiful or sad, it just has so much raw angst and pain, but also truth. I think that Sean Astin really got the emotion across extremely well.

Most Emotional Scene?: Elrond explains mortality to Arwen.
Why this Scene?:
I loved this scene. The pain on Arwen's face as she realizes the truth behind Elrond's words, but also her determination. Beautiful. And I love the amount of feeling they pour into the few words of Elvish they speak there. Elrond: Ah im, ú-'erin veleth lîn? arwen: Gerich veleth nîn, ada. *sigh* beautiful.

Most Emotional Scene?: Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are caught. (TTT Movie)
Why this Scene?:
The whole bit where Frodo says 'come smeagol, you must trust master' and then they take Gollum away, is just...horrible! Smeagol feels betrayed! And then after when Frodo says 'Faramir, you must let me go!' But Faramir won't let him...each time it makes me cry.

Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's Death
Why this Scene?:
I love this character. He's one of my favourites, possibly even before Aragorn. The struggle he went through with the Ring and in the end triumphed, I just get so incredibly mad when people refer to him as "the villain in the Fellowship", because in his heart he knew that the Ring would eventually destroy Gondor, not save it, but it ate away at his will and he finally fell. But then his death, Merry and Pippin are looking like it's over for them, and he charges in and begins fighting scores of Uruk-hai to save them. Whenever I see Lurtz come striding up the hill I sink down into my chair, and wince every time an arrow hits Boromir. The entire time he's fighting and being shot, the tears are gathering in my eyes, and when he finally falls and can fight no more, they spill over. And his last words with Aragorn just make me cry the harder. When I first saw The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time, I had one chapter left in the first book, and we all know that Boromir doesn't die until the beginning of The Two Towers, so I had no idea. It made me appreciate the character more, though, I think, becaues it's more in-depth and emotional than his death in the books, and made me cry at it when I read that a few days later. Boromir is a hero, one of the greatest.

Most Emotional Scene?: Gandalf's Fall in Moria
Why this Scene?:
This scene tears me up. I know that Gandalf is going to come back, but the reaction of the entire Fellowship just makes me cry so hard, and the music is heart wrenching. Another emotional scene would be where he comes back as the White, a few tears always slip down then.

Why this Scene?:
Just the whole final scene at the end of the movie made tears come to my eyes. I am just that way.

Most Emotional Scene?: The Ents go to war.
Why this Scene?:
It is just so cool because they are so old; they have lived through so many ages and have sort of been apart from everything else in Middle-Earth. But now they are going to fight for Middle-Earth, even though they know they could die, but they will die for a good cause- fighting evil. It is the same heroism of Legolas, and of Haldir and his Elves.

Most Emotional Scene?: The Last March of the Ents to Isengard
Why this Scene?:
I found it to be incredibly powerful. The way the camera pulls back and focuses on the ents slowly marching toward Orthanc was incredibly gripping to me. It's one of the coolest scenes of TTT, in my opinion, and the music playing behind it made it that much more endeering.

Your Name: Retuile
Most Emotional Scene?: The Death of Haldir
Why this Scene?:
Basically, Haldir shouldn'tve died. He's been through enough as it is.. Galadriel saying his lines to.. to.. Gimli.. (you'd know if you've read the books), he barely gets any camera time, and he's an awesome guard. I find it horrible that poor Haldir died.. I cry every time I see it.. and it brings a tear to my eye when I hear the lament for him on The Two Towers cd. Other than Legolas, Haldir is the only other male that really represents the elves.. Elrond isn't that much of a help. In my opinion.. Haldir could've just.. not.. not died! Isn't that a good enough point?

Most Emotional Scene?: When Faramir lets Frodo and Sam go.
Why this Scene?:
I always come so close to crying here because Faramir is basically sacrificing himself for the greater good which is incredibly noble. And secondly he does it knowing that his father who he thinks hates him will have him put to death for 'saving the world' and won't even care he's gone.

Most Emotional Scene?: Gandalf falls into Shadow.
Why this Scene?:
I really liked Gandalf, I mean he was very sweet and kind and seeing him "die" brought me into tears at the end of the FOTR because when they show Legolas', Frodo's, Aragon's and all of the characters faces you feel like Gandalf is not going to come back.

Most Emotional Scene?: Sam's Promise Speach.
Why this Scene?:
Sam's Promise Speech was very faithfull, it wasn't sad, but it was very beautiful, because Sam is telling Frodo that he made a promise and that he will not break it. That scence shows true friendship and loyalty.

Your Name: Moe
Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's Death.
Why this Scene?:
I love Boromir's character to death (no pun intended) Unlike Aragorn, he is real, human, and incredibly brave and loyal. He loves his city and his kingdom - as we can see in Lothlorien when he reminisces about Gondor and says to Aragorn, "One day our paths will lead us there...and the tower guard shall take up the call...the lords of Gondor have returned!" He is NOT evil - he only desires the ring to save Gondor, and he later repents for this blind greed. I've seen his death a million times but I still cry my heart out. His last words to Aragorn are so beautiful and so sad - "I would have followed you, my brother.......my captain......my King". Sean Bean, you are a truly a stunning actor!

Why this Scene?:
I loved him as much as I loved Legolas...a lot, so I was really sad when he died. It was so tragic, I felt like I could cry my heart out and every time I see that part I feel my heart break. Why did they have to do that to gorgeous Haldir??

Most Emotional Scene?: Haldir Dying
Why this Scene?:
It was just so SAD! Aragorn was running to get to him, but he was to late, and he caught Haldir as he fell. Y'know, I didn't really like Haldir that much until he died, and then I was like, "OMG, he was really cool!" Why did PJ kill him off? WHY!?!?! *ahem* Really great scene. Absolutely marvelous. HALDIR IS SOOOOO GORGEOUS AND AWESOME!

Most Emotional Scene?: The convorsation between Faramir and Denethor[ROTK]
Why this Scene?:
This is such an emotional scene. It made me cry both in the book and movie Faramir's readiness to go to almost certain death even after Denethor has told him he would have preferred him dead if Boromir was still there is just so touching, as well as Faramirs last line- “ I will go, but father if I am to return think better of me” “That will depend on the manner of your return.”

Why this Scene?:
Because...I mean...lord...I get depressed just thinking about it. 'I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you!' One of the best literary characters ever written, and beautifully translated to screen by the ever so talented Mr. Astin. I started crying at that scene, and I never cry at movies, only at books.

Most Emotional Scene?: The Reunion of Arwen and Aragorn during Aragorn's coronation
Why this Scene?:
When I saw the movie for the first time, the scene was lovely, but it didn't affect me half as much as it did the second time. The sheer emotion leading up to Aragorn's coronation obviously left him feeling vulnerable - made him miss Arwen more - and when he saw her beautiful face from behind the banner, a light sparkled there that had wanted before. It was then, that the tears fell from my eyes. He took her up in his arms and kissed like the world would have ended in that very second. There is nothing, NOTHING, more beautiful than the relationship between the Elfstone and the Evenstar, and this moment in cinema simply cemented that.

Most Emotional Scene?: Faramir-Denethor Exchange
Why this Scene?:
When you look at Faramir's face in this scene, it just breaks your heart because he's searching for his father's love and approval, but it's no where to be found. Even when the realization, the painful truth starts to hit him, his heart just sinks to the floor and Denethor stomps on him by confirming his worst fears. There was a tiny little glimmer of hope near the end of the scene, but it was completely shot down when Denethor just had to make that last jab at his dignity and pride. You just want to reach through the screen and hug him. Faramir just lost his best friend/older brother, his country is about to fall to the hands of the ultimate evil, and now...his father just said that he wishes he was dead.

Your Name: Harmonia
Most Emotional Scene?: Gandalf's death and the Aftermath
Why this Scene?:
I nearly cried in that scene because all the characters looked so sad and when the camera zoomed up on Frodo...you could see a tear drop comming down from his eye! Also, they played that May It Be song by Enya (I think) during that scene and I found that song rather depressing. Why did everyone have to assume that Gandalf was dead? It made me cry!! :(

Most Emotional Scene?: Frodo tells Sam to go home

Your Name: Pirate
Most Emotional Scene?: Faramir let's Frodo go
Why this Scene?:
Because he sacrificed his life to let frodo go!! esp. his brother died because of the ring, and he is going to trust frodo and sam to do the right thing after frodo just walked up to a ringwraith!! faramir is my favorite character, i also love in rotk when he says "where does my alligence lie if not here"

Your Name: Pirate
Most Emotional Scene?: A new day will come
Why this Scene?:
Everyone probably said this one... but i think its true. i love how when sam is talking they show the orcs fighting... it really is a great scene. i love at the end he says "that there is still some good left in this world mr. frodo and its worth fighting for" and then you see gollum.. cos gollum is evil but frodo wants to bring him back, even though it seems impossible.

Your Name: Felicity Helen Louise Pink
Most Emotional Scene?: Frodo and Sam on their jouney through Mordor
Why this Scene?:
These scenes sum up their whole relationship, one being of love, respect and dedicition to the end. Frodo knows no matter what he must destroy the ring, especially sad is the lines between Frodo and Gollum before entering Shelob's lair "once you go in you must never go back" "I cannot go back". The really emmotional scene is when Sam thinks Frodo is dead and says sadley "he's only sleeping".Even Gandalf in the Extended Version looks pleasantley surprised apon hearing about Sam's going with Frodo. Sam is such a good friend to Frodo throughout the trilogy the scenes really convey how important Sam and Frodo's realtionship really was, without Sam Frodo would have never really made it to mount Doom and the level of emotion is incredible and acting of Elijah Wood and Sean Astin is reaching it's peak.

Your Name: Felicity Helen Louise Pink
Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's death/Gandalf's fall from Kharzard Doom
Why this Scene?:
Boromir's death is really heroic, as he dies protecting Pippin and Merry from the onslaught of the orc attack. Even then in the Two Towers when Famir asks if he were a friend of Boromir, depite Boromir's attack, Frodo says "yes for my part". Pippin also remembers Boromir's death when visiting Denethor and the death of Boromir is recalled in Two Towers and in Return of the King, profundly affecting members of the fellowship and Denethor and Faramir. This scene is profoundley moving because it is Aragorn who finds Boromir dying, Aragron and Boromir don't always see eye to eye, but they both have an intrest in the renewed strength and glory of Gondor and Minas Tirith. When Boromir lies dying he begins to depair and loses hope, Aragorn conforts him and Boromir dies acknowledging him as captain and King, for me this a very emmotional scene. Gandalf's fall from Kharzard doom is a huge tragedy for the fellowship as all them are former friends or become friends through thier expeiriences. When Gandalf falls hope is lost for the fellowship and for the success of their quest. Everyone is very much affected especially the hobbits, who have known Gandalf well for a long time. Everyone is in a state or schock or despair, the worst part is when Aragorn orders them to get up and Boromir says angrily "give them a moment for pity's sake" and when Aragorn goes after Frodo, especially the look on Frodo's face, it's so heartbreaking to watch.

Your Name: Raven
Most Emotional Scene?: Pippin and Merry goodbye
Why this Scene?:
I think it is very sad, because when they are in the stable in ROTK, this is the first time they will have been parted for an unknown period of time in their life. Pippin gets on the horse, Merry gives him a small gift, and they don't even get to really say goodbye. I cried when I saw that, because Pippin is so confused, and then Gandalf just leaves, and they don't know if they will ever see each other again.

Most Emotional Scene?: When Gandalf and Frodo baord the boat

Most Emotional Scene?: The ending of ROTK
Why this Scene?:
When I saw it; I vowed to take a box of tissue because I'm a sap when it comes to emotional films like the LoTR trilogy, but I didn't. Either way, I tried not to cry through the whole movie, but the ending was probably the one scene that got to me; it was just the way Merry looked, how he burst into tears as Frodo hugged him, and then Frodo saying goodbye and everyone is just bawling; that made me cry.

Most Emotional Scene?: When Frodo told Sam to go home
Why this Scene?:
He deserves an award. I swear to God. That way he played Sam, the tears and just the emotion he poured into the character was gorgeous! Frodo told him to go home; and then Sam collapses, crying, tearing at his hair, it's just a really, really emotional scene because Sam wants to be there with Frodo, to protect him and to save him from Gollum and the Ring, but when Frodo tells him to go home, he knows he's failed, and that's the sad part because it wasn't true.

Your Name: Tindomiel
Most Emotional Scene?: The scene in Frodo's room after he wakes from after the trip to Mount Doom
Why this Scene?:
Everything is so beautiful... when Frodo wakes up, he finds himself in a lovely place, as compared to his horrendous trip to Mount Doom. Then his joy at seeing Gandalf, then all his friends (Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli) Especially when Sam comes in, and Frodo looks so glad and relieved knowing that Middle Earth has been saved, and the ring is destroyed for ever. Also all the characters are dressed up so beautifully (Even Aragorn, who looks cleaner and more kingly), with the light pouring and the smiles on everyone's faces as the hobbits are hugging Frodo while prancing on the bed. That scene was really just so breathtaking because of the light radiating from each character and shining all around. It was also a really happy scene.

Your Name: Tindomiel
Most Emotional Scene?: Theoden speaking to Eowyn as he is dying
Why this Scene?:
In ROTK, we can really see that Theoden has regained his confidence and he is much braver and more hopeful. Even when he is dying, he dies without any regrets as he knows he has done his part as a king and he has not failed. Especially when he says "I know your face. Eowyn...Eowyn" It's just so touching, because it really shows that he loves Eowyn and wants Eowyn to be happy, not sad when he had gone, as he knew he hadn't really paid attention to the happiness of Eowyn when he was alive.

Your Name: Louise
Most Emotional Scene?: "I made a promise"
Why this Scene?:
Sam's loyalty to Frodo is the foundation for their journey. If he hadn't have been so loyal then the ring would never have been destroyed. The love the two hobbits have for each other is, in my opinion, the strongest theme throughout both the books and the films and this scene is where we first see the love and the loyalty that Sam has for Mr Frodo. You see it in Frodo's eyes as well, when he responds after Sam's speech, the way that the two actor's played the scene just make's me howl like a baby, from when Sam even though he can't swim, starts to go out after Frodo. It's the only scene that makes me cry every time I see it.

Most Emotional Scene?: Sam's Speech
Why this Scene?:
"Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened." I hadnt read the books till I'd seen return of the king, so i had no idea what was going to happen. Like Sam. So i had the exact same questions. This scene always gives me the chills. (yea i get the chills, i dont cry, i dont know why). I LOVE this scene.

It's really hard to see somebody so noble and kind hearted treated the way Faramir is. Faramir is somebody who has to fight for his fathers love and respect. No child should ever have to do that . It is just an emotional scene that moves me a lot.

Most Emotional Scene?: When Frodo tells Sam to go home
Why this Scene?:
Sean astin deserved an oscar for his performance of sam, he was just so emotional and real and believable. The scene where frodo tells sam to go home and sam falls in a heap hysterical is heart wrenching because he just loves frodo so much. and the scene where he thinks frodo is dead, and at the end where they are on the rock and dreaming of the home they will never see again and sam says that if he were ever to marry it would be rosie and he bursts into tears and frodo hugs them as he sobs and a tear falls from frodos eys, that is just devestating!!!

Most Emotional Scene?: When Aragorn is at his mother's grave
Why this Scene?:
I balled hysterically when i read the script for this. I most seriously cried when i actually watched it. You can so see how much Aragorn loves his mother but how is just isn't what everybody expects him to be. Aragorn just wants to be free from his past in that short moment his is. And OMG with Elrond, eep! you can actually feel the love that tolkien describes in Appedix A. i true tear dropper!

Most Emotional Scene?: The Argonath
Why this Scene?:
Because, to me, it captures the feeling and emotion of the entire trilogy. The music is wonderful. To me, the scene just shows how everyone was in danger of losing what had once been grand and glorious, unless Frodo could fulfill his Quest.

Most Emotional Scene?: Aragorn and Arwen before the departure of the Fellowship
Why this Scene?:
I was crying when he said, "It was a dream Arwen, nothing more." I was devastated when I was at the cinema. Arwen was a women filled with so much courage, and she was trying to finally understand that this was the end of them as a couple. When she said, "It was a gift. Keep it." I was so heartstruck because I knew the pain would be so hard for her to endure in Valinor. They were destined, but they both knew that they would probably never see eachother again. I bawled

Most Emotional Scene?: The Argonath
Why this Scene?:
OK...get prepared. :) Well, I am and always have been a huge fan of the Silmarillion...even over the LotR trilogy. And to me, the Argonath scene incorporates so much "First-agey-ness" in it....especially with Howard Shore's haunting main theme in the background. The Argonath represent a time long past that only Aragorn can renew...and we don't even know at that point if he will succeed. A lot of Gondorian and Numenorean heritage is tied up the Argonath, so you get a sense of very real history watching it. OK...finished. Sorry for the lecture. :)

Most Emotional Scene?: In the halls of Denethor
Why this Scene?:
I think there are a lot of emotional scenes in the trilogy, but some of the most emotional ones happen in Denethor's Halls in Gondor. I think the scene where Faramir returns is just heart breaking. Faramir tries so hard to please his father and gain his respect, but nothing he does is good enough. He tries and tries and tries, but in the end his father pretty much just tells him he wishes that Faramir were dead. And he almost drives him to his death, anyway. I think this scene is so emotional also because you have so much trouble beleiving that a father could actually treat his son like that. Another part of that scene that is very emotional is when Pippin sings. It shows the sorrow he's feeling and how alone he feels. It shows he misses his friends and home. And when he cries at the end, you just fall apart. It's terrible to see a usually extremely happy hobbit cry like that. It just hurts

Most Emotional Scene?: Aragorn's Coronation
Why this Scene?:
Once again, there are many more emotional scenes, but Aragorn's Coronation is one of the top. When Arwen shows up at the Coronation it is very emotional. You can't help but be happy for them. They both look so happy together. And then when Aragorn says to the hobbits, "My friends, you bow to no one.", that was very emotional. The look on the hobbits faces as thousands of people bow to them is unforgetable. It's just an amazing scene.

Most Emotional Scene?: When Pippin finds Merry on Pelennor Fields
Why this Scene?:
If you read the part or even watch it you know that if Pippin had not found Merry he would have died and it shows how much the two cared for each other, cause even though all the living had supsalbly be taken care of when Pippin did not see Merry he went out and looked for him. In the movie it shows that it was even dark and that Pippin had been looking for him all day. Then when Pip finds him Merry says 'I knew you'd find me' then Pip says that he will take care of Merry. It just shows how they are the best of friends.

Your Name: RangerGirl
Most Emotional Scene?: The last ship leaving
Why this Scene?:
It was probably the most emtional sence in the book/movie. Sam,Merry, and Pippin dont want him to go but he does. Even though they are sad they know he must then Gandalf say 'I will not say do not weep for not all tears are evi' I cried(which I rarly ever do)

Most Emotional Scene?: Boromir's Death
Why this Scene?:
Its a very emotional scene that brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.The way PJ filmed it making it a long and drawn out scene is what made it so good. With each arrow that hit him you feel sorrow. It was a brave thing for him to do trying to save the hobbit's and Boromir blowing his Horn for help also added to the scene hoping Stryder and the others would arrive in time to help.

Your Name: Kevin
Most Emotional Scene?: Pippin telling Denethor of his son's death
Why this Scene?:
When pippin tells Boromir's father of his death it brings a tear to my eye once agian because for a second they show a scene of Boromir with the arrows as you know Pippin is remembering how Boromir tried to save him and merry.
